Training of Professionals and Sex Educators- 20th graduates- 2008/2009

Muntada is pleased to announce the graduation of another group of 13 Palestinian professionals who have taken the advanced training course in Human Sexuality. The course started in September, 2008 and was conducted until January, 2009. The graduation ceremony took place at Muntada’s office in Haifa, on the 30th of January, 2009. This group was the 20th class since the beginning of this professional training program on sexuality, and the 4th class since the Muntada became independent from IFPA.

This group was the 20th class since the beginning of this professional training program on sexuality, and the 4th class since the Muntada became independent from IFPA.
This course is part of Muntada`s certification program, in partnership with Tel Aviv University and the Israel Family Planning Association. Participants in this training course are social workers, educators, biology teachers, and feminist activists. It is important to note that upon their graduation, all participants are entitled to become official members of Muntada according to its by-laws.
As part of the 112-hour academic course, participants are exposed to the various aspects of sexuality, where the key concepts include : Human sexual development, Relationships, Personal Skills, Sexual Behavior, Sexual and Reproductive Health, and Society and Culture. Trainees are expected to acquire professional skills and tools to be able to work with members of their communities on sexual issues, such as sexual violence and abuse r; sexually transmitted infections; high risk sexual behaviors; gender equality; positive communication between parents and children; women`s empowerment; sexual identity; as well as basic concepts in group dynamics and facilitation.
Over the past few months, Muntada has been meeting with several Palestinian NGO`s with the aim of revising the contents of this advanced sexuality training course to ensure their accuracy and relevance to the subject at hand.

It is worth mentioning that the total number of graduates who completed this course, has exceeded 450 professionals.
